About Whitney

Midwifery roots,
lactation expertise

Whitney Wolfe is a Certified Professional Midwife (CPM), Licensed Direct-Entry Midwife (LDM), and International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) based in Portland, Oregon.

She trained at Birthingway College of Midwifery, completing her Certificate of Midwifery in 2014 and her Doula Training in 2013 — building a foundation rooted in whole-person, community-centered care. She is certified through the North American Registry of Midwives (NARM), licensed as a midwife in Oregon, and maintains current CPR and NRP certification.

After years of supporting families through pregnancy, birth, and the early postpartum period, Whitney expanded her practice to include lactation consulting — bringing the same steady, compassionate presence to the feeding journey that she has always brought to birth.

Her approach is evidence-based, culturally humble, and judgment-free. She believes parents are the experts on their own families, and that her job is to offer knowledge, options, and support — never pressure.

Common questions

You might be wondering…

Do I need to be breastfeeding to work with you?+
Not at all. I support all forms of feeding — breastfeeding, chestfeeding, pumping, formula supplementing, and combination feeding. We meet you where you are, without any agenda about how you "should" feed your baby.
Is this covered by insurance?+
Many insurance plans cover lactation consulting under the Affordable Care Act. I can provide documentation for you to submit to your insurance for reimbursement. Please reach out and we can help you navigate this.
How soon after birth can I contact you?+
The sooner the better — many families reach out within the first few days. Early support can make a significant difference, but it's never too late to ask for help, whether your baby is 3 days or 3 months old.
Do you serve families outside of Portland?+
Yes! I serve Portland and the surrounding communities, including many areas in the metro region. Virtual consultations are available for families farther out. Get in touch and we'll figure out what works.
What should I expect during a visit?+
A typical visit lasts 1–2 hours and includes a conversation about your feeding history, a feeding observation, weight check for baby (if equipment is available), and a personalized written care plan. There's no rush and plenty of time for questions.
